Kaspersky Small Office Security 3 provides superior protection for computers and servers at your company against modern online threats.

 

MINIMUM HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

To ensure the proper functioning of the application, your computer should meet the following requirements:

1.    General requirements

·        800 MB of free disk space on the hard drive;

·        CD/DVD-ROM (for installing the application from a retail CD).

·        Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0 or later.

·        Microsoft Windows Installer 3.0 or later.

·        Internet access for application activation and database and software module updates.

2.    Operating systems

·        Personal computers:

·        Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (Service Pack 2 or later), Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2 or later), and Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (Service Pack 2 or later):

·        Intel Pentium 800 MHz 32-bit (x86) / 64-bit (x64) processor or higher (or a compatible equivalent);

·        512 MB free RAM.

·        Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic, Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, Microsoft Windows Vista Business, Microsoft Windows Vista Enterprise, Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate;

·        Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (Service Pack 1 or higher), Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (Service Pack 1 or higher), Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate (Service Pack 1 or higher);

·        Microsoft Windows 8, Microsoft Windows 8 Pro:

·        Intel Pentium 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) / 64-bit (x64) processor or later (or a compatible equivalent);

·        1 GB free RAM (for a 32-bit operating system); 2 GB free RAM (for a 64-bit operating system).

·        File servers:

·        Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation (Service Pack 1 or higher) and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (Service Pack 1 or higher):

·        Intel Pentium 1.4 GHz 64-bit (x64) processor or dual-core 1.4 GHz processor or later (or a compatible equivalent);

·        512 MB free RAM.

·        Microsoft Windows SBS 2008 x64 Standard (Service Pack 2 or higher):

·        4 GB free RAM.

·        Microsoft Windows SBS 2011 Essentials and Microsoft Windows SBS 2011 Standard (Service Pack 1 or higher):

·        Intel Pentium 2 GHz 64-bit (x64) processor or later (or a compatible equivalent);

·        4 GB free RAM.

·        Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Foundation, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Essentials and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Standard:

·        Intel Pentium 1.4 GHz 64-bit (x64) processor or later (or a compatible equivalent);

·        4 GB free RAM.

 

INSTALLATION

To install the application, run the setup file (the one with .exe extension) and follow the instructions of the Installation Wizard.

In the course of installation, Kaspersky Small Office Security 3 detects applications that may slow down (or even render inoperable) the computer if they run simultaneously with Kaspersky Small Office Security 3, and prompts you to remove them.

Installation on top of Kaspersky Small Office Security 2 is supported.

Installation on top of Kaspersky Small Office Security 1 is not supported (Kaspersky Small Office Security 1 should be removed first).

 

WHAT'S NEW

·        You can back up data to the Dropbox online storage. This improves the security of data storage and simplifies access to data with the use of cloud technology.

·        Secure keyboard input is available to protect identity data entered on websites against keyloggers.

·        In order to provide protection against intruders exploiting software vulnerabilities, the feature of protection against exploits has been added to the System Watcher component.

·        The option of automatic disinfection of active infections that prevent Kaspersky Small Office Security 3 from being installed on the computer has been added.

·        The new Safe Money feature ensures safe online banking and shopping.

·        Full support of Microsoft Windows 8 and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 has been added.

·        The license for Kaspersky Small Office Security 3 includes protection for mobile devices (mobile device protection modules can be downloaded from the Kaspersky Lab website).

 

IMPROVEMENTS

·        The application's impact on operating system performance has been reduced; the amount of computer resources used up by the application has also been reduced. In particular, the application's impact on the system boot time and startup of applications has been reduced.

·        The protection against hidden installation of malware in the system and against theft of personal data has been improved.

·        Virtual Keyboard functionality has been enhanced: open it by clicking the quick launch icon displayed in data entry fields on websites.

·        Heuristic analysis performed when checking websites for signs of phishing has been improved.

·        The size of the application databases has been reduced, which allows lowering the size of data to download and speed up the installation of updates.

·        Pop-up tips containing helpful application usage advice have been added.

·        The Remote Control section has become more user friendly. The basic functions of this component can be configured and used conveniently.

·        The application threat rating technology has been improved to protect the computer and personal data based on analysis of application behavior reported by computers of other users of Kaspersky Lab products.

·        The list of supported web browser versions has been expanded.

·        The messages shown by Web Policy Management to children have been adapted.

·        The Web Policy Management component is now more accurate thanks to using the cloud technology for scanning websites for unwanted content.

 

MAIN KNOWN ISSUES

·        File Anti-Virus may process certain file formats incorrectly. Information about processing errors is displayed in the report on File Anti-Virus operation.

·        Web Policy Management may incorrectly process resources that use the SPDY protocol.

·        The application does not scan traffic of services that use the TLS v1.2 protocol.

·        If application plugins were not enabled at the first launch of Internet Explorer after Kaspersky Small Office Security 3 installation, these plugins can be started again only via the browser settings.

·        At the first startup of the application after installation, the Internet Explorer browser for which Kaspersky Small Office Security 3 plugins have been enabled may prompt you to disable these plugins.

·        For Mozilla Firefox, Kaspersky Small Office Security 3 plugins are disabled by default. Those plugins are activated through the web browser settings.

·        You may be prompted to install a special certificate for encrypted connections to ensure proper operation of the Opera browser.

·        Settings are not retained when you migrate to the application from Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013 and Kaspersky Internet Security 2013.

·        Application Control does not monitor certain privileges under 64-bit operating systems.

·        Locked files (files that are in use by other applications) cannot be backed up under Windows 8 x64.

·        Under Windows 7 and Windows 8, the application can hang up if incompatible Anti-Virus databases have been downloaded while WinDBG is set as the default debugger.

·        The application cannot be installed under Windows XP SP3 without updates if there is no Internet connection.

·        In some cases, when a computer with Kaspersky Small Office Security 3 has not had an Internet connection for a long time, the application will not be able to update the databases from the local update server.

·        Some service files of Windows OS and MS Office cannot be backed up to the Online storage due to limitations of the Dropbox service.

·        In rare cases, the Virtual Keyboard icon appears in a random location on the website instead of the secure fields.

·        Even if it is disabled in application settings, Virtual Keyboard works when you use Safe Money.

·        When multiple containers are created in a mobile storage, the password prompt may be displayed twice for each container in some cases.

·        After a Backup storage has been deleted, it is displayed in the list of storages until the Backup window is opened again.

·        In some cases, an activation code for a remote computer may be unavailable for purchase in the License Manager of Remote Control.

·        It is impossible to remove Backup module reports from the application.

·        In some cases, after Advanced Disinfection has been performed an alert prompting the user to perform Advanced Disinfection can be displayed up to 10 times.

·        Custom filtering may work incorrectly in report windows.

·        An encrypted container connected as a virtual drive cannot be disabled using the "Eject" command in the context menu of Microsoft Windows Explorer. Use the "Disconnect container" option in the drive's context menu in Windows Explorer or the "Encrypt data" function in the user interface of Kaspersky Small Office Security 3 to disable the encrypted container.

·        Interception of instant messages fails for some protocols when certain http proxies are in use.

·        Groups of Kaspersky Small Office Security 3 windows cannot be closed through Windows 7 taskbar.

·        The application window cannot be closed through Windows 7 taskbar preview.

·        "A backup task has not been completed" status is displayed in the general protection status and in the Backup section when backup tasks are performed.

·        Some messages sent via the Jabber protocol using Miranda IM client cannot be intercepted by Web policies.

·        Some operations are disabled in the problem list when viewed via Remote Control (on both remote and local computers).

·        After Anti-Virus databases have been deleted and then updated after a new download, Kaspersky Small Office Security 3 continues to display the "Anti-Virus databases corrupted" status until Kaspersky Small Office Security 3 is restarted.

·        A link containing a colon (:) cannot be added manually to the global list of exclusions in the application settings.

·        If a container is renamed, a new shortcut must be created, or the path to the container modified for the existing shortcut.

·        When a crypto container is selected from the list in the Data Encryption module, the Open Container button may not work under Windows SBS 2011 Standard x64.

·        When a backup task is modified, the drag’n’drop function may work incorrectly under Windows SBS 2011 Standard x64.

·        In some cases, IPM messages are displayed incorrectly and the default links are not substituted.

·        Problems may occur when saving Rescue Disk to a memory stick under Windows Server 2012 Standard.

·        When the IPv6 protocol is used, certain Firewall rules may work incorrectly.
